Communication skills make a huge difference to our personal and business relationships

Motivated by passion for my career and a fascination for what makes people behave the way they do, I learned, developed and refined sales, negotiation, key customer development, account management, presentation and line management skills. Along the way, as well as teaching and coaching in these areas, I also learned how certain communication skills and life skills can make a huge difference to our personal and business relationships.

Working with salespeople, managers and customers in major organisations, I discovered that, just as success in sport often relies as much on the brain as on muscle, so our relationships with colleagues, customers, friends and family are more rewarding when we apply the right communication skills.

We all want to achieve something

Whatever our aspirations in life, we all want to achieve something. Too often, failing to understand how other people work is our biggest stumbling block on the way to personal and business success. Fortunately, an understanding of different personality types and the tailoring of our communication to that understanding works wonders for people just like me and you.

My eyes were opened when I discovered Dr Robert Rohm’s DISC system. Over the years, like so many people in sales, I’d been through established training systems such as Myers-Briggs.
