Church and Community
In business, integrity is not an option; it's essential. I respect people whatever their faith. I resepct people of no faith at all. I used to be an atheist. As a Christian, I believe in the power of love in the home, in business and in school. Since my audience is usually a multicultural and a multifaith one, I avoid overt reference to my faith. The coaching style I adopt, however, the principles I teach, my way of doing business are all guided by the teachings of Jesus.
I am a member of the Methodist Church in Churchdown, where I live. My wife, Jenny, is a Lay Preacher and both of us are members of our Prayer, Support and Healing Team. I belong to Jerusalem Peace Makers, a multifaith group working towards a fair, just and non-violent resolution to the Israel-Palestinian conflict. Along with other Christians, I regularly attend meetings hosted by Muslim colleagues in Gloucester. It is a goal of mine to visit the holy land in 2010 as part of a team of Christians, Muslims and Jews from the local Gloucestershire community.
I am always delighted to receive invitations to share/discuss my faith, especially with young people (awkward questions welcomed). This is the one service for which I make no charge.
I also fund raise for a local children's charity, the James Hopkins Trust. The James Hopkins Trust provides specialist nursing care and respite for parents with responsibility for children with life threatening or life disabling conditions.
